MY STRUGGLE, MY ESCAPE: 5 BOOKS THAT HELPED ME FIND HOPE IN MY BLACKOUT SEASON

Life is strategically shaped by some factors. Life is shaped by our experiences, background, family, friends and even the books we read. Mine has been shaped powerfully by books.

In the year 2019, after being dealt with by life. I had been seeking admission into the university and not getting anywhere despite several tries, I gave up hope and lost confidence in myself. I was livid and disappointed. Those who I taught and helped during the examinations has a smooth glide through yet here I was, begging for acceptance.

It was my down, down time. Thank God for the gift of books. Today, I want to share with you 5 books that helped me find hope.

NO EXCUSES by BRIAN TRACY

This was my first step to revival. The author focused on self actualization,  and self mastery as only a man who has knowledge of who he is and has gained mastery over himself can excel exceptionally in this world.

The author made me see I was a corporation of my own and how well I treat myself determines how well others will see and treat me.

He left a tough question on my mind: "Apart from your name, who are you?" That question started my journey to self awareness.

RICH DAD POOR DAD: THE CASH FLOW QUADRANT by ROBERT KIYOSAKI

The author made sure to expose my flaws and ill mannered way of handling my finances.

It is either I choose to live and die as an employee, run round the circle of being a business owner or break free and live the life of a businessman and an investor.

He opened my eyes to see that I have been thinking and taking actions on my flee and flight emotions. He left in me a made up mind to succeed and become financially free.

MORE THAN MONEY: A TEAM By ROBERT AND KIM KIYOSAKI

In this book, the authors did a good job in stating the importance of money to life and were able to tell me that money has it's value but despite its vast nature it also has a limit and that is where money stops, your team starts. It is your team that ensures the creation and sustenance of your money.

A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE by RICK WARREN

The author of this book addressed  the critical topic of purpose as it is the  beginning of every man. When you are able to decide the WHY  of your life, you begin to  live the life you ought to live, bringing satisfaction and deep joy to yourself.

One of my favourite lines from that book is "I may not know all the keys to success but I know one key to failure, pleasing everyone."

The author quoted someone saying "we do not get to skate through life problem free"

This quote made me realize there was a reason I went through that phase of life.

ACT LIKE A SUCCESS, THINK LIKE A SUCCESS by STEVE HARVEY

The author of this book did well to echo into my ears that no one is born without a gift. Everyone he says, has a God given ability  The gift is free but the working out is tedious.

Steve Harvey, told us how he went through stuff to achieve the feat he's attained because as good as giftings are, nothing beats the place of hard work.

After reading these books, I have been able to know the WHY of me life and channel my energy into projects and people that will help me fulfill this WHY.

I would love to hear from you and know the books that have helped you scale tough times.

And if tough times is where you are right now, read these books; I assure you they can help you survive and scale through.
