WITHDRAW AND PRAY

And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. Luke 5:16 The gospels hold a vivid account of the life and ministry of Jesus and a constant mention was the fact that Jesus after major miracles, teachings and all will always withdraw to pray. Today's world is filled with activities, every corner is choked up and daily you expend energy spiritually. It is spiritual energy that burns when you overcome temptation, live right and display Christ and so on. As young Christians who want to effectively and constantly walk with God and work the works o the Father it is pertinent that we practice withdrawal so we can recharge. Jesus was obvious of the fact that we are a city set on a hill that cannot be hid, He himself gave us the express command in Matt 5 to let our light so shine before men that's why he gave us a pattern by which we model our lives; it is the model of withdrawal. LEAVE THE NOISE. One of the definitions  of withdraw is to leave a place. The noise of lif...

STAY STRONG

There is no hope for the weak, only the strong have a stake in the  inheritance of life._Favour Emmanuel The road to success is full of ups and downs, full of roadblocks. There will come a time when the tire of your vehicle will puncture or deflate, you may miss your route or run out of steam.  There is a popular saying that tough times don’t last only tough men do.   It is your tenacity, your resolve, your doggedness in these times that will help you journey to the end.   I have always said it on this blog that life derives pleasure in squashing and bursting your bubble of hope: let me increase the volume a little louder, life will always test your resolve by knocking down your leap of hope, it does this to see if like everyone who have come before you, you will turn back or fire on.  BUT MEN HAVE GONE BEFORE YOU Bear this at the back of your mind that men have wished and dreamt of doing that very thing you are aiming to do. You are not the first ne...

Practical Tips for Cultivating a Meaningful Prayer Life

Prayer, abused, misunderstood, misused. What has prayer not seen? Yet, prayer is one powerful tool of life.  We all pray, we all make requests. Everyday we talk to people and ask for things. BUT WHAT IS PRAYER? Prayer has a simple definition, it is talking to someone, it is making a request from a being superior to you.  The fact that we have needs and seek help every now and then means we must pray.  THE CONCEPT OF PRAYER I always cherish my frequent visit to the Court House on days I am able to.  When you enter the Court Room, you'll understand the concept of prayer better. When in the Court room, you'll hear the judge say 'let me hear your prayers' He/she is simply saying how can I help you. The judge is simply saying; 'you are in a fix, you have a heavy heart and no one is giving you a listening ear but I am here to listen to you.' Prayer was initiated because the frailty of human became too visible and as generation passed on, the need to maintain a consi...

Training the Mind for Success

Some are born strong and others are made strong- J.R Rim Success is achievable, success is attainable, success is the dream and desired end of everyone. We are no strangers to the word success because it's an everyday word but what we seldom talk about is the preparation. Everybody wants success but a few prepare themselves for it. Despite your heavy desire for success ,you'll be left disappointed if you do not prepare for it. The mind is the first point of call in a man's life. The mind is the controller general of the body as every part of the human body is connected to the mind. Once there is mind failure, the resultant effect is body failure, career failure and so on. To first win a man, win his mind, to attract success or become successful, you must first succeed in your mind as your mind is the magnet for the success you seek. Most times, success meet us unprepared and we are left in suspense not knowing what to do with it. That success will not stay. It will be sho...

BIBLICAL GUIDELINES TO BETTER LIVING

Everyone longs to have a better life, to be treated specially, talked to lovingly.  We all long to have a great and sweet life. For this sweet and loving life to be possible, we will have to live by certain guidelines. I tell people when I have the opportunity to that life will be sweet and enjoyable if we all strive to be nice to each other; but recently while studying my Bible, I came across these golden guidelines with which we should live our lives.  Shall we discuss?  Guideline 1: JUDGEMENT Judgement has dual definitions and most times when this word comes up we think only of the second definition which relates to punishment for a certain action. WHAT IS JUDGEMENT?  Judgement is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions. It is making considered decisions, putting ourselves in the shoes of others to know how they'll feel when we take that decision we are about to take.  This golden guideline is also found in the golden r...

EMBRACING IMPERFECTION: THE PATH TO AN IMPROVED LIFE

For a long time, we have lied to ourselves or believed the lies of people. All our lives, we've lived with certain notions, beliefs and biases. In the long run, we have experienced different levels of disappointments and setbacks because we were looking out for perfection. IMPERFECTION IS HUMAN This generation must come to terms with the fact that no one is perfect. No time is perfect and no situation will be the most ideal.  No one is incapable of making mistakes no matter how intelligent or highly placed in society. We all make mistakes. Even the Pope as history seems to prove over and over again is human. This means that he makes mistakes.  Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it. ~Salvador Dali The fact that you are human has condemned you to being mistake prone. You will outburst when not necessary, you will make decisions that end up hurting you or others around you. Sometimes, misunderstanding will arise because we make the mistake of not understanding...
